Held in October, this annual race tests cyclist’s ability to climb the steep slopes of the forest-covered countryside of Takahashi City. There is a 30.395 km and a 42.194 km course. The shorter course starts at Yurara Hot Spring and makes a ring around a few of the stations on the Hakubi Line. The longer course makes a big loop around Fukiya Furusato Village, starting from the former residence of the Nakata family. There is a nominal race registration fee,  which is required in advance.

It is a great opportunity to get a long slow look at this stunning section of Okayama Prefecture without having to worry about traffic or having to be somewhere in particular. While it is a hill climb challenge, it is not really so much about the race itself but rather attempting the challenge.

You will find people of all walks of life giving it a try, so why not be one of them? Enjoy the day in Takahashi City, Nariwa Town and Fukiya Village. It really makes the most sense to stay a night or two in one of these locations to insure that you have the opportunity to take in some of the sights.

Takahashi City is a small municipality along the Takahashi River and is notable for is historic buildings and wonderful townscape.
