With roughly 3200 varieties reaching a total of around 150,000 plants, Handayama Botanical Gardens is a delight to visit at any time of the year.
I went there in the summer so of course the color green was on maximum. It’s a nice place to walk because the mountainside location has been transformed into an oasis of flowers and plants from every corner of the globe. I saw some plants floating in a giant pond that looked like they were from Mars. When I read the explanation it turned out they were from somewhere in South America. It’s always great the learn something new and completely unexpected.
My favorite part of the garden is the European-style terraced flower amphitheater that reminds me of the fabled gardens of Louis XIV’s Versaille.
