In early February of each year, the Hinase branch of the Bizen Volunteer Fire Department put on a spectacle of water and color at Hinase Port. Dressed in festival firefighting costumes, the members divide into teams and board about a dozen fire-hose-equipped seaborne vessels.
The battle begins with long and high plumes of frigid water being launched into the air. After one team concedes defeat it is time for the finale. The participants launch their last streams of water towards the sky, but this time blue, yellow and red coloring are added, creating an eye-catching water rainbow effect.
Access: Take the JR Ako Line from JR Okayama Station to JR Hinase Station. The Hinase Port area is about a 15 minute walk from JR Hinase Station.
