The beauty of the Seto Inland Sea and the romance of a stunning island

Shodoshima International Hotel

Views of the Seto Inland Sea

At Shodoshima International Hotel all rooms at this hotel boast a beautiful view of the sea. Located on Shodoshima Island in Kagawa Prefecture, this hotel is one of best, most luxurious hotels on the island.

The hotel is proud of its beautifully presented Japanese cuisine, featuring fresh seafood and mountain vegetables. Additionally, soy sauce from the island’s renowned 400-year-old soy sauce maker and delicious Shodoshima handmade noodles play a role in menu selections. The chefs at Shodoshima International Hotel strive to offer the best cuisine for guests.

The hotel offers a choice of Japanese-style guest room or “fusion” rooms, which feature Japanese ‘tatami’ mat flooring and western-style bedding and seating areas. The Executive room boasts a private open-air bath and stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea and Angel Road.

The second largest island in the Seto Inland Sea, Shodoshima belongs to Kagawa Prefecture, but is easily accessible from ferries running from Okayama Prefecture as well.

Shodoshima boasts several nice beaches, hot spring resorts, and beautiful coastal scenery on the exterior of the island, with a mountainous interior. Some of the sights on the interior of the island include the famous Olive Park, Kankakei Gorge and Ropeway, and a monkey park.,

Gourmet items include soy sauce and soy products, sesame seed oil, and olive products. Popular sightseeing destinations include a soy sauce factory, and Angel Road, a sandbar that visitors can walk along at low tide to reach a small island (see SmartTour code SM-KAG-010).

Shodoshima is part of the Setouchi International Art Triennale; as such, several permanent installations of contemporary art are on view to visitors. The artwork creates a wonderful contrast between the modern and the traditional as well as the natural and man-made.
